AroundMe is a quick and easy app to use to find virtually any kind of business or service around you. This free application is useful in finding restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and more.
The AroundMe app taps into the GPS capabilities on the iPhone to find the nearby businesses you are searching for. It finds all types of businesses that are located near you, and conveniently categorizes them in an extensive list. The list includes, (but isn’t limited to), bars, banks, hospitals, and movie theaters. It also provides information specific to a given location, including the address, telephone number, and the distance to the business from where you are. You can add and save a location’s information to your phone or e-mail it. For each listing, you are also provided with a map to show you how to get there.
This iPhone application is a useful to use when traveling, but don’t expect it to be 100 percent accurate all the time. Roads may change and stores may go into and out of business quickly and it’s possible that AroundMe may not be up to date. This is a good app to reference in an unfamiliar place, but it’s good to use other sources as well.
Although AroundMe works well with the GPS capable iPhone, iPod Touch users are not as lucky. Without a built in GPS system, the application is unable to accurately pinpoint your position, but it still works with the device nonetheless. AroundMe combines several searches into just one application.
