One of the most useful and fun applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch is SitOrSquat. This nifty little app, which is free we might mention, finds the closest bathroom to you when you need it most.
Much like the online version, SitOrSquat generates a maps pointing out all of the restrooms in your area based on the address, or zip code you provide it. SitOrSquat has a database of over 54,000 bathrooms all over the world (but mainly scattered in about a dozen nations) and doesn’t leave too many major tourist spots out.
When you open up the application SitOrSquat starts searching for bathrooms nearest you based on your current location, which it figures out from the iPhone internal GPS. Users can also add ratings (as can you) to find out or let others know how clean or accessible a given restroom is. SitOrSquat is also very flexible and gives you the ability to add bathrooms you discover as well.
SitOrSquat the iPhone app itself has been revised several times and the developers have gone to great lengths to make sure it’s easy to use, navigate, and interact with. The SitOrSquat website has a number of good video tutorials to teach you the ins and outs so you don’t have to hold your pee any longer in a critical moment.
One of our favorite features about this app though is that it lets you know if a given bathroom in a Starbucks is open or not. In fact SitOrSquat has this type of information for most of the bathrooms in its database which it complies from users ‘out in the field’ – literally, so you don’t have to go to the bathroom in one.
